People We Meet on Vacation

This film is based on the novel *People We Meet on Vacation* by Emily Henry. It follows travel companions Alex and Poppy, two people with truly opposite personalities who became friends on a trip. To maintain their bond, they made a promise to each other: every summer, they would meet up for a vacation.
In the present timeline, Poppy feels increasingly lonely, consumed by her busy job writing for a travel magazine. At one point, she forgets she was invited to the wedding of Alex’s brother. She initially refuses to go, but then gets excited at the thought of seeing Alex again and decides to travel to Barcelona to attend. By then, Alex and Poppy haven’t seen each other in two years. Their last trip, to Tuscany, damaged their friendship. Alex had been planning to marry his girlfriend, Sarah, and wanted to settle into a quiet life. After he and Sarah broke up, however, things remained strained between him and Poppy.
At the wedding, Poppy finally confesses her feelings to Alex, and they decide to give a relationship a try. But Alex is wary—Poppy’s restless, wandering nature makes him hesitant about whether they truly want the same future. They part ways once more, each going their separate paths.
In the end, Poppy comes to a realization: what she really wants isn’t another trip, but a permanent place to call home with her favorite person—Alex. It’s a great film for anyone who loves romantic comedies with plenty of heart and a genuine, uplifting feel.
